Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme, “I Matter Because…,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Contact Ms. Soterakis for more information. Since the threat of Covid-19, PTA has been busy finding ways to support the school during these difficult times. We have already purchased custom masks for all staff and students, and are looking into grant opportunities to help fund any other potential needs.

PAST PROJECTS

Scholastic Book Fairs

At least twice a year, we hold a book fair to raise money for the events and projects at Cutler Ridge Elementary school.

Money we raise helps us to fund many areas of the school. In 2016-2017, we upgraded the Media Center with $700 worth of new reading materials, and in 2019-2020 we added an additional $900 worth of reading material.

McDonald's McTeacher's Night

We were proud to have partnered with the Caribbean Blvd. McDonalds in our efforts to raise money for our school. Our very own Cutler Ridge Elementary teachers volunteered at McDonalds, serving our students and their family in this fun-filled fundraising event 2015-2017.

School Carnival

We were in the works for creating a school spring carnival that we hope will become a tradition here at Cutler Ridge Elementary School since 2016. In order to be a success, this would need to be a huge team effort.

After School Programs

During the 2016-2017 school year, our school launched our afterschool STEAM clubs which provide students with extra-curricular activities in the arts and sciences. With a matching donation from Dr. Feldman of the MDCPS Board, PTA was able to sponsor a Drone Club. We just needed dedicated volunteers to help us run the club, which was unsuccessful.

Marquee Upgrade

Nearly 20 years ago, PTA donated this marquee to the school. It has served us well, however, it is no longer easily viewed from the street. Our goal is to get a new LED marquee with maybe a bit more height, so that our messages can be easily shared in our community.

Shade Canopy

Every afternoon, after school, the children wait to be picked up in the grassy area by the designated parent pick-up. We are currently researching companies to put in a shade canopy to cover this area, to block out harmful UV rays and inclement weather.
